
Track & Field Hosts Ball State Tune-Up Friday

Action in the four-team, dual-scored meet, will begin promptly at 5 p.m. with action in the weight throw, long jump, pole vault and high jump.

The day's running events start at approximately 6:30 p.m., beginning with the preliminary round of the 60m hurdles. The meet will end around 7:50 p.m. with the 4x400m relay.

Three Things to Know Entering the Weekend:

No. 1: Ball State student-athletes lead the Mid-American Conference in the 60m hurdles (Jazmin Smith) and high jump (Regan Lewis), while holding down the No. 2 slot in the pentathlon (Karlie Zumbro) and 60m (Peyton Stewart).
In addition, the Cardinals have two student-athletes ranked in the Top 50 of the NCAA Rankings; 60m hurdles (Jazmin Smith, 42nd) and high jump (Regan Lewis, 49th).

No. 2: Ball State enters the Doug Raymond National Qualifier with one of the nation's top 60m groups. Three Cardinals, Peyton Stewart (7.50), Bryeana Byrdsong (7.53) and Jazmin Smith (7.59), have already clocked MAC auto marks in the event. Michelle Lehmann is not far behind at 7.72. Overall, Ball State's average time among the top four runners is 7.58 which ranks first in the MAC, second in the Great Lakes Region and 30th among all NCAA Division I programs.

No. 3: Last weekend junior Jasmine Harris became the fifth Ball State student-athlete to clinch a MAC automatic qualifying mark by taking fifth in the 60m hurdles (8.54) at the Doug Raymond National Qualifier. In addition, added a career-best 200m time of 24.77 to place fifth in that event.
