Cross Country Places Seven on Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - Seven members of the Ball State cross country program were named to the 2019 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Cross Country Team as announced by the league office Thursday (Dec. 5).

Seniors Peyton Kneadler and Maritza Rodriguez each earned the honor for the third time in cross country and the seventh time in the collegiate careers. Both were also named Academic All-MAC for indoor and outdoor track & field in each of the last two seasons.

Junior Cayla Eckenroth picks up the award for the third time in her career, earning in cross country each of the last two seasons, as well as outdoor track & field last season.

Being recognized as Academic All-MAC honorees for the first time in their careers are sophomores Maddie Aul, Karleigh Conner and Emma Cunningham, along with redshirt freshman Meghan Hedrick.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year are not eligible.
