December 13, 2019 | Field Hockey
CLEVELAND - The Ball State field hockey team placed nine members on the 2019 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, which was announced by the league office today.
Redshirt senior Michelle Shampton was named to the team for the fourth straight year. Fellow senior Haley Jolly plus juniors Sierra Jefferson and Rachel Pereira were honored for the third straight season.
Juniors Abby Ferenczy and Jenna McKune earned the recognition for the second year in a row. Ball State's first-time honorees were senior Arantxa Rosainz Caloca, junior Audrey Tabor and sophomore Callie Rumbaugh.
Shampton closed out her senior year by earning the MAC Field Hockey Player of the Week award in the final week of the season. Jefferson also earned that honor once this year along with being tabbed to the postseason All-MAC Second Team.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
