Jefferson Receives Second Team All-MAC Accolades

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Ball State field hockey junior Sierra Jefferson earned Second Team All-Mid-American Conference accolades which was announced by the conference office today. This marks the first postseason award for Jefferson has received.
"Very proud of Sierra and our whole squad," Ball State head field hockey coach Stephanie Bernthal said. "She is a really gifted player and great teammate. Her impact this year has been huge on the attacking side of the ball. We are thrilled her hard work has paid off."
Jefferson has started all 17 games for the Cardinals this season. She registered goals against Davidson (Sept. 1), UC Davis (Sept. 5) and Saint Louis (Sept. 6). Jefferson's shots on goal percentage is 85 percent .
Jefferson recently earned MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 29 after she created countless attacking opportunities for the Cardinals against Longwood (Oct. 25) and VCU (Oct. 27).
Against Longwood, Jefferson set up the two scoring corners to help Ball State earn the 2-1 overtime victory over the Lancers.
She then closed out last weekend's competition by providing the attacking spark for BSU's almost near come-back at VCU. Jefferson fought especially hard versus VCU in the final quarter with her sustained attack for Ball State.
The Ball State field hockey team will head to Oxford, Ohio to play in the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinal round Thursday on the campus of Miami University. The Cardinals enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 Longwood at 10:30 a.m.
