Field Hockey Falls to Second-Place Ohio, 3-0

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ball State field hockey team suffered a 3-0 loss Friday at Ohio in its lone match of the weekend.
Tayla Hansen put Ohio on the board less than 10 minutes into the game, and Jillian Shive gave the Bobcats some insurance with a goal late in the third period and another early in the fourth.
Ball State fell to 3-11 overall and 1-3 in MAC play, while the second-place Bobcats improved to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the league.
BSU goalkeeper Grace Chavez made seven saves on the day but faced 10 shots on goal. Rachel Pereira registered her fourth defensive save of the season. She entered the week ranked 12th nationally in that category.
Ball State will return to action Friday, Oct. 25 at Longwood. The Cardinals have three regular season games remaining, including two more league contests, before the MAC Tournament.
