Cardinals Fall Back on Final Day at Crooked Stick

Bronnenberg leads BSU with closing 73 in Carmel
LEADERBOARD
CARMEL, Ind. -- The Ball State men's golf team struggled to its highest round of the fall Tuesday at the Crooked Stick Invitational.
BSU could not build on its strong second round from a day earlier. The Cardinals' score of 319 was their highest this year by 16 strokes and dropped them from seventh place to 12th on the final leaderboard.
A pair of SEC teams dueled it out for the title, with overnight leader Georgia edging Vanderbilt by one shot. Marquette's Tyler Leach took medalist honors. The 14-team field included 12 squads ranked among the nation's top 100, including Ball State.
Keegan Bronnenberg was the Cardinals' bright spot Tuesday with a 1-over par 73 that moved him into a tie for 28th as the top BSU player on the leaderboard.
Ball State will close out its fall schedule next week at Xavier's Musketeer Classic. Tournament runs Monday and Tuesday at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati.
