Opening Pitch:Â For the fifth time this season, Ball State will square off against a Big Ten opponent. The Cardinals are 2-2 with wins against Iowa (Feb. 24) and Purdue (April 10). The Boilermakers will visit First Merchants Ballpark Complex next week.Â
   Â
This will be a homecoming of sorts for Ohio State head coach Greg Beals. He was the head coach at Ball State from 2003 to 2010 and led the Cardinals to three MAC West Division crowns and a trip to the 2006 NCAA Regionals.
Â
Series History: This will mark Ohio State's first visit to Muncie since 1970. Ten of the previous 11 meetings took place in Columbus while the other game was a neutral site affair in 2013.
   Â
The Cardinals have won two straight in the series, including a 14-4 triumph at Ohio State last year. 2B Seth Freed was a home run shy of a cycle in last year's win. He went 3-for-5 with a personal-high five RBIs.

Ohio State leads the all-time series by a count of 13-7 and is 4-1 in games played at Ball State.
