Cardinals set for final event before MAC Championships
The Ball State men's golf team visits Columbus, Ohio, this weekend for its final tuneup for the Mid-American Conference Championships.
The Cardinals are part of a 16-team field at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. The action features 36 holes Saturday and the final round Sunday on the Scarlet Course at Ohio State University Golf Club.
No. 13 Illinois headlines a field that features nine top-100 teams, including a pair of MAC squads – Kent State (25) and Miami (74).
The full field also includes Penn State (40), Purdue (42), Michigan State (57), Iowa (76), Ohio State (81), Wisconsin (89), Bowling Green, Colgate, Francis Marion, Northern Illinois, Rutgers and Xavier.
Ball State's lineup will feature Jack Cunningham, Trevar Denney, Johnny Watts, Michael Makris and Timothy Wiseman. Denney, who competed as an individual earlier this spring at Pinehurst, will be making his debut in the BSU lineup.
Makris led Ball State last week with a top-25 finish at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship, where nine of the nation's top 100 players were in action. The Cardinals finished 12th as a team.
Ball State finished seventh at last year's Kepler Intercollegiate. This year's event begins Saturday with tee times starting at 7:40 a.m. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
