Men’s Golf Finishes 14th at Kepler

Cardinals host MAC Championships starting Friday in Fort Wayne
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ball State men's golf team finished 14th this weekend at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate.
Johnny Watts led the Cardinals with a 54-hole total of 222 (+9) and fired a team-best 70 (-1) in the final round on the Scarlet Course at Ohio State University Golf Club. Ball State finished with a team total of 909 (+57).
Purdue won the event with a score of 849 (-3), coming from five shots back in the final round to top Illinois (+3) by six shots. Penn State (+16) was third. The 16-team field featured nine ranked among the nation's top 100.
Purdue's Jarle Volden (-9) claimed individual medalist honors, finishing six shots clear of Penn State's Ryan Davis and Illinois' Nick Hardy.
The Kepler was Ball State's final tuneup for the MAC Championships. The Cardinals will host the event Friday through Sunday at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne.
