Track & Field Earns Six Career Bests in Friday Action

CINCINNATI, Ohio / RALEIGH, N.C. - - Ball State track & field's student-athletes tallied six career-best performances over two meets Friday, with three coming at the Oliver Nikoloff Open hosted by Cincinnati and three coming at the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State.
The Cardinals opened the day with three career-best performances in the hammer throw at the Oliver Nikoloff Open. Freshman Princess Carter led the way for the squad with a seventh-place distance of 39.84m. Sophomore Kelsey Walters followed in 10th place at 38.79m, while sophomore Megan Graves placed 11th at 35.88m.
Ball State concludes competition in the Oliver Nikoloff Open Saturday, with student-athletes entered in 14 events starting at 10 a.m. with the women's javelin.
At the Raleigh Relays, sophomore Maritza Rodriguez led the Cardinals with a 41-place time of 36:14.70 in the 10,000m run. It was 1:48.60 better than her previous career-best time of 38:03.30.
In the 1500m run, sophomore Peyton Kneadler turned in a career-fast time of 4:41.03, while freshman Cayla Eckenroth finished in a career-best 4:52.01.
