Men’s Swim and Dive Comes up Short Against Miami on Senior Day

MUNCIE, Ind. –The Ball State men's swimming and diving team hosted its last meet of the season and fell to the RedHawks of Miami, 217-81.
Prior to the meet, the Cardinals honored their three seniors, Banistre Lienhart, Zach Toman and Isaac Walling. The seniors shared their favorite swimming moments and advice to underclassmen. Their favorite memories included winter trainings, beating certain MAC schools throughout their careers and events competed in during MAC Championships.
Lienhart earned an individual fourth and fifth place finish on the day. He was fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:46.78) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (48.20). Walling marked a third place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a final time of 10:08.82. He was also fourth in the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 4:57.92. Toman was part of the second place finish in the 200 medley relay, along with Logan Ackley, Ben Andrew and Zach Reichle. They recorded a time of 1:36.51. Toman also competed in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
In the 100 backstroke, Ackley earned second place with a time of 53.73 to earn four points for the Cardinals. Chase Jackson earned fourth place while Spencer Ball sat in the fifth place position. Ackley had another second place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:55.91).
Cullen Tyler was able to earn a first and second place finish against the RedHawks. Tyler was firth in the 200 breaststroke with a final time of 2:07.66. He was also second in the 100 breaststroke after touching the wall at 58.55.
Ben Andrew was also able to earn a first place spot for the Cardinals in the 50 freestyle. He posted a final time of 21.37 to take the top spot. He was also second in the 100 free and in the 200 IM, earning 17 total points for Ball State.
Gabe Dean was the only Cardinal to compete on the board today. He posted a score of 218.25 in the 1-meter dive and a score of 203.65 in the 3-meter.
Ball State ended the day with a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Zach Reichle, Drew Weeks, Lienhart, and Davis Meyn came together to post a final time of 1:27.39.
Today's meet rounds out the regular season for the Ball State men's swimming and diving team. The Cardinals will compete again on Feb. 28-Mar. 3 at the MAC Championships in Oxford, Ohio.
