Cross Country Places Four on Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - Four members of the Ball State cross country program were named to the 2018 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Cross Country Team as announced by the league office Thursday (Dec. 6).

"We are very proud of our four Academic All-MAC selections," head coach Brian Etelman said. "They have put in a lot of hard work and are committed to being successful both in the classroom and on the course. They are great examples of the type of student-athletes we are striving for in our program."

Juniors Peyton Kneadler and Maritza Rodriguez each earned the honor for the second time in cross country and the fourth time in the collegiate careers. Both were also named Academic All-MAC for indoor and outdoor track and field last season.

In addition, sophomores Cayla Eckenroth and Emmalyne Tarsa each claimed the award for the first time in their collegiate careers.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year players and junior college transfers are not eligible.
