Junior forward averaged double-double in wins over Valparaiso, Howard
MUNCIE, Ind. -- After averaging a double-double in a pair of decisive victories, Ball State junior forward Tahjai Teague was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Player of the Week.
Â
Teague led Ball State for the week with 18.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. He shared the honor with Central Michigan's Shawn Roundtree.
Â
Teague scored 19 points and pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds Monday in a 77-61 victory at Valparaiso. It was the Cardinals' first road win over the Crusaders since 1990.Â
Â
The junior forward then scored 17 points and grabbed nine boards Thursday in a 98-71 win over Howard. He went 8-for-9 from the floor against the Bison, improving his MAC-leading field goal percentage to .636 for the season.Â
Â
Teague has now scored double figures in eight straight games (BSU has won seven of them), helping the Cardinals climb to No. 84 in the Ken Pomeroy rankings. It's the highest Ball State has been rated since at least the 2004-05 season.
Â
Ball State will return to action Saturday, Dec. 29 with its final non-conference game. The Cardinals will host Delaware State with a 2 p.m. tipoff at Worthen Arena.
