Volleyball Bounces Back with Sweep of Bowling Green
October 20, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - - The Ball State women's volleyball team remained undefeated at the Stroh Center, improving to 4-0 in the building with a dominating 3-0 (25-16, 27-25, 25-20) victory over Mid-American Conference East Division co-leader Bowling Green Saturday afternoon.
"I was proud of how we bounced back after a tough match last night," head coach Kelli Miller said. "We showed great toughness and competed hard the entire match. We will have to build on that moving forward into next weekend."
With the win, the MAC West Division leading Cardinals improve to 17-6 (8-2 MAC) and are only a match behind last night's opponent Miami (17-5 / 9-1 MAC) in the overall league race.
While stats are currently not available for tonight's win over the Falcons (14-9; 8-2 MAC), senior outside attacker Ellie Dunn unofficially led the Ball State attack with 14 kills. Junior middle Sydnee VanBeek was not far behind with 11.
"It was a great team effort tonight," Miller added. "We received good offensive performances from both Ellie and Sydnee, and that certainly helped lead us tonight. Our service pressure was also much better and helped us keep consistent pressure on a really strong Bowling Green team."
The Ball State women's volleyball team returns to Worthen Arena next weekend with matches versus Northern Illinois (Friday) and Western Michigan (Saturday). Both matches are set for 7 p.m. first serves.
A complete box score and updated stats from today's match will be posted on BallStateSports.com when they become available.
