CLEVELAND, Ohio - - After guiding the Ball State women's volleyball team to a pair of Mid-American Conference wins last weekend, junior setter Amber Seaman has been named the MAC West Division Setter of the Week.
Seaman, who earns the award for a second time in its inaugural season, ran the Cardinals offense at a .264 (93-28-246) efficiency last weekend and averaged 12.00 assists per set in sweeps of Eastern Michigan (Sept. 28) and Central Michigan (Sept. 29). She also recorded double-doubles in each match, hit an impressive .611 (11-0-18), served up three aces and collected three block assists.
Seaman opened the weekend by leading Ball State to a .278 (44-12-115) attack percentage in Friday's sweep of MAC West Division Co-Leader Eastern Michigan. She handed out 35 assists in the contest, while also scoring 10 digs for her second double-double of the season. On the attack, Seaman hit .600 with six kills on 10 swings with no errors. She also served up an ace and scored a pair of block assists.
In Saturday's sweep of Central Michigan, Seaman ran the offense at a .252 (49-16-131) clip, handed out 37 assists and corralled 11 digs for her second double-double of the weekend and third of the season. She also added the match's only two service aces, scored five kills, hit .615 and tallied a block assist.
Seaman enters this week leading the MAC with a 10.03 assists-per-set average and has guided the Ball State offense to a league-best .233 attack percentage on the season.
In addition, with her 72 assists last week Seaman raised her career total to 3,705 to climb from 10th to seventh on BSU's career charts. Just the 11th player in program history to record over 1,000 assists in a single season with 1,111 last year, Seaman's 10.02 career assists-per-set average ranks sixth on the all-time list and she is on pace to become only the fifth Cardinal to hand out over 4,000 career assists.
Seaman and the Ball State women's volleyball team close their current three-match homestand Thursday, when they welcomes Toledo to Worthen Arena for a 7 p.m. first serve.
