BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Five Ball State women's basketball players scored in double figures as the Cardinals defeated Bowling Green, 84-73 at the Stroh Center Saturday afternoon in Mid-American Conference action.

Senior forward Destiny Washington and freshman guard Maliah Howard-Bass rounded out the double digit scoring with 10 points each.
Ball State won the points in the paint battle for the 13th time this season outscoring Bowling Green, 36-to-16. Head coach Brady Sallee has extended his win streak to seven now against the Falcons.
Both teams struggled to put the ball in the basket to begin the game, with Ball State converting on 2-of-6 from the field and Bowling Green shooting 3-of-7 from the floor, with just four minutes shaved off the clock. Howard-Bass got the Cardinals offense going after knocking down three straight baskets from behind the arc to give Ball State a 15-8 edge over the Falcons with 3:05 left in the first frame. After that, the Cardinals closed out the quarter with a 17-4 run to take a 23-13 lead over BGSU heading into the second quarter.
The Cardinals opened the second stanza with a 7-2 run but then went silent, allowing Bowling Green to go on a 7-2 run of its own to cut Ball State's once 17 point lead to 10 (32-22) with 4:33 left in the half. After that, the Cardinals outscored the Falcons 14-10 and Grande would cap the second frame off with a 3-point basket to give Ball State a 46-32 lead at intermission.
Grande led all scorers at the half with 14 points, as the Cardinals shot 56.7 percent from the field (17-of-30) while holding the Falcons to 38.5 percent from the floor (10-of-26).
Monaco opened the third quarter for Ball State scoring five straight points right out of the shoot to give the Cardinals their largest lead of the contest (52-34) at the 7:27 mark. Bowling Green then came charging back to come within nine (58-49) late in the third quarter. The Cardinals quickly took back their double-digit lead (62-49) after free throws from Samz and a put back from freshman forward Oshlynn Brown heading into the final frame.
Bowling Green continued to fight its way back into the ball game and would come to within eight twice in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals though remained resilient to the Falcons efforts and showed composure down the stretch to secure their victory.
