- Ball State women's basketball moved to 13-1 overall and 2-1 in the Mid-American Conference with its 84-73 win at Bowling Green Saturday. Junior guard Carmen Grande led the Cardinals with a game-high 16 points. With the win, Brady Sallee has guided the Cardinals to seven-straight victories over the Falcons.
- Ball State's 13-1 record is the best start in program history.
- The Cardinals remain one of five teams nationally that have suffered only one loss and have been receiving votes in both the USA Today Coaches and AP Top 25 polls.
- Power 5 conference wins over - Vanderbilt (88-79) and Purdue (66-60). Along with wins over Big East opponent Butler (87-75) and Conference USA Western Kentucky (93-81).
- Ball State ended its non-conference season 11-0 and at the time was only one of seven teams nationally that were still undefeated and one of two non Power 5 teams on the list.
- Ball State has scored at least 80-plus points in nine out of its 14 games.
- Ball State ranks 24th nationally in the latest RPI which is the highest ranking of any team in the Mid-American Conference.
- Ball State has three wins over top 100 RPI Teams - Western Kentucky (35 RPI), Butler (54 RPI) and Purdue (66 RPI).
- Junior guard Carmen Grande ranks second nationally in assists per game (9.4 apg) and fourth in total assists (131).
- The 11 straight non-conference wins marked the second largest win streak in program history (12 in 2008-09 which included win over Tennessee in the NCAA Tournament).
- Akron holds a 6-8 record heading into tonight's contest and a 0-3 MAC record. The Zips are coming off of an 70-67 overtime loss at Ohio Saturday. Akron has also suffered conference losses to MAC East Division leader Buffalo (89-66) and Toledo (60-54).
- Wednesday's game against Akron will mark the 38th time in program history the two schools have met with the Cardinals leading the all-time series, 21-16. Ball State has won the last four meetings between the two programs winning its last meeting 90-63 on Feb. 1, 2017 in James A. Rhodes Arena.
- Akron is paced by Megan Sefcik, who averages 13.4 points per game, behind Sefcik is Shaunay Edmonds who is currently averaging 10.6 ppg. Defensively the Zips are led by Haliegh Reinoehl who pulls down 8.4 rebounds per contest.
- The Zips are led by head coach Jodi Kest who is in her 12th season at Akron. She owns a career record of 396-327 (.548).
