MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team will travel to the East Coast to take on La Salle and Leigh this weekend. The Cardinals will take on the Explorers Friday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. Ball State will then face up against the Mountain Hawks Sunday, Sept. 10 at noon.

Last season, the Cardinals fell short to La Salle, 1-3 at Briner Sports Complex. Lexi Kavanaugh was the lone Cardinal to score in that contest on an Abbey Main assist. The Explorers are 2-1 this season, beating LIU Brooklyn and Leigh. La Salle fell to new MAC member Appalachian State, 3-1.

The last time Ball State and Leigh met was in 2012 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The Cardinals took down the Mountain Hawks 4-3 in that contest. Leigh sits at 1-3 on the season with the lone victory coming against LIU Brooklyn. The Mountain Hawks have been defeated by Ohio State, La Salle and Sacred Heart.

The Cardinals (2-2) are looking to bounce back into the win column after suffering two tough losses last weekend to No. 16 Boston and UMass-Lowell.
