Timmons Leads Cross Country at Indiana Intercollegiate

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - - Senior Jordan Timmons became the third different runner to lead the Ball State cross country team to the finish line this season with her 19th-place finish at Friday's 6K Indiana Intercollegiate Championships held at the Purdue University Cross Country Course.

Timmons crossed the finish line in 24:50.8 to place 18th among scored runners and help the Cardinals finish fourth in the women's 6K championship big state results, which also featured Purdue, Indiana State and Indiana.

Overall a total of 17 teams competed in the women's 6K championship race which was open to all universities and colleges in the state of Indiana.

Sophomore Meliza Rodriguez was Ball State's second-fastest runner Friday, crossing the finish line 19th among scored runners with a career-fast 6K clocking of 25:00.4.

Also scoring for the Cardinals were sophomore Lauren Whitehouse in 22nd (25:49.5), senior Kitty Taylor in 24th (26:04.8) and freshman Kaylor Hoover in 25th (26:17.8). Hoover's time was also a career-fast effort, like sophomore Emma Maddelein's time of 26:25.4 to place 26th.

The Ball State cross country team returns to action next Saturday (Sept. 23), when it travels to the Miami University Cross Country Course in Oxford, Ohio, for an 11 a.m. start in the RedHawk Rumbel.

Look for the top of the lineup to return to action in the meet, which allows the team to preview the course which will host the Mid-American Conference Championships on Oct. 28.
