MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team will look to pick up two more wins at the Miami Invitational this weekend. The Cardinals will take on Boston University on Saturday, Sept. 2, which is set to start at 11 a.m. Ball State will then come head to head with UMass-Lowell on Sunday, Sept. 3 at noon.
The last time Ball State met Boston was back in 2011 when the Terriers were ranked 14th in the nation. The Cardinals will look to redeem themselves after falling to Boston 8-0 in that contest. Last season the Terriers finished with an overall record of 13-6. Boston made their way to the 2016 Patriot League Tournament where they took down Bucknell in the semifinals, but fell to American in the championship game.
This will be the first meeting between the Cardinals and UMass-Lowell since the River Hawks became a Division I program in 2013. Prior to joining the America East Conference in 2013, UMass-Lowell won Division II national championships in 2005 and 2010. Last season the River Hawks made their first appearance in the America East Conference Championship Tournament where they fell to No. 1 Stanford.
The Ball State field hockey team is coming off two big-time wins over Saint Louis and Ohio last weekend. Ball State shut out the Billikens, winning 5-0. The Cardinals then took down the Bobcats, 4-1, in non-conference action.
