Opening Pitch: Both Ball State and Toledo are jockeying for position in the upcoming MAC Tournament (May 24-28). The two teams are in a group of five within two games of .500 in league play. The Cardinals began the year 0-6 against MAC foes but have since responded to win nine of their last 12 conference games.
Ball State is batting .310 in league games (best in MAC) while Toledo is ninth (.273) in that same category.
Series History: Toledo has won two of three games over Ball State each of the past two seasons. The Cardinals avoided a sweep last year thanks to 10th inning RBIs from INF Sean Kennedy and C Griffin Hulecki in an 8-7 win on May 16. Toledo scored 11 unearned runs in last year's three-game set.
Both OF Matt Eppers (.364) and INF Alex Maloney (.357) hit better than .350 last spring against Toledo. Eppers tallied a home run and four RBIs while Maloney had three doubles and scored four times.
Ball State leads the all-time series, 68-58.

Resetting the Pitching Rotation: RHP Colin Brockhouse is expected to make his first home pitching appearance of the season this week. He is slowly returning to early-season form after battling through a mid-year injury. Brockhouse went three innings, struck out five and held NIU to one run last weekend.
RHP Evan Marquardt will be making his first start since April 15. He has held the opposition to one run or less in four of his last five appearances.
RHP John Baker rounds out the rotation. The freshman joined the weekend rotation two weeks ago at Buffalo.
Congrats Graduates!: Five Cardinals are expected to receive their Ball State bachelor's degree this weekend – RHP BJ Butler, OF Matt Eppers, INF Sean Kennedy, LHP Kevin Marnon and 1B Caleb Stayton.
Home, Sweet Home for Seniors: The four seniors comprised of OF Matt Eppers, INF Sean Kennedy, INF Alex Maloney and 1B Caleb Stayton have racked up some gaudy numbers in 14 home home this year – .365 batting average, 6 home runs, 46 RBIs and 42 runs scored.
