Junior guard owns 3.57 GPA in sport administration
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State junior guard Sean Sellers earned Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors in men's basketball for the second straight year.
Â
A sport administration major from Greensburg, Indiana, Sellers owns a 3.57 GPA. He was named the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week in December after a 32-point performance with seven 3-pointers in the Cardinals' victory over Eastern Kentucky.
Â
Sellers helped Ball State to a 21-13 overall record (11-7 MAC), a second straight MAC West Division co-championship and a second straight postseason appearance in the CIT. He played all 34 games and made 21 starts.
Â
Sellers averaged 8.6 points per game and led the Cardinals with 68 3-pointers, ranking fifth in the MAC at 41.5 percent from beyond the arc. He moved into fifth place in Ball State history for 3-pointers (172) and 3-point percentage (.416) in a career.
Â
The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and participate in at least 50 percent of the contests for their particular sport.
Â
Sellers was a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete selection last year and is once again a candidate for that honor recognizing the "best of the best" for academic and athletic achievement in each sport.
