Track & Field Logs Nine Top Fives at Illinois Twilight

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - - Led by second-place finishes from senior Olivia Ashba and sophomore Regan Lewis, the Ball State track & field team turned in nine top five performances Saturday night at the Illinois Twilight.

Ashba turned in a time of 1:03.22 to finish runner-up in the 400m hurdles and ran leadoff for the first-place 4x400m relay which finished in 3:55.62.

Lewis turned in another solid effort in the high jump, successfully clearing the bar at a height of 1.69m (5'-6.5") to place second. She entered the meet ranked second in the Mid-American Conference and 15th on the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round qualifying list after clearing 1.76m (5'-9.25") at last weekend's Ball State Challenge.

In addition to the nine top five finishes, including the win in the 4x400m relay, Ball State's student-athletes concluded the Illinois Twilight with six career-best finishes.

Senior Danielle Dahl was the top performer among Ball State's career-best finishers, taking third in the 400m dash in 58.09.

Next up, the Ball State track & field team will split the squad with some members going to the Gina Relays (April 27-29) and others going to the Southern Miss Open (April 28).
