Persons, House, Moses Honored on All-MAC Teams

Trio helped Cardinals to 20 wins in regular season for first time since 1997-98
MUNCIE, Ind. -- A trio of Ball State men's basketball players earned All-Mid-American Conference honors Monday, as selected by the league's head coaches.

Sophomore point guard Tayler Persons was named to the All-MAC Second Team, while senior forward Franko House earned third-team recognition. Additionally, sophomore center Trey Moses was named to the league's all-defensive team.

Persons ranked second in the MAC in assists per game (5.0) and eighth in scoring (16.2) during the regular season, leading the Cardinals in both categories in his first season in Muncie. The Kokomo, Indiana, native became the first Ball State player ever to record at least 500 points and 150 assists in a single season.

Persons scored double figures in 26 of the Cardinals'31 games, including a career-best 32-point performance at Central Michigan and a 31-point effort at Toledo in the final five contests of the year. He started every game and knocked down 43.5 percent of his attempts from 3-point range.

House earned all-conference recognition for the second year in a row. The captain from Elkhart, Indiana, was second on the team in points (13.5), rebounds (6.4) and assists (2.4) per game. He scored double figures in 16 of the Cardinals' 18 MAC games and had double-doubles in three of them.

House tied the Ball State career record for games played (126) in the regular-season finale against Northern Illinois. He also ranks among the top 10 in school history in rebounds (719), offensive boards (272), starts (110), field goal percentage (.516) and blocks (60). He is one of only four players in school annals with at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 assists in a career.

Moses led Ball State in rebounds (8.4) and blocked shots (1.2) per game, ranking among the league leaders in both categories. He averaged 1.4 blocks per game in MAC play to lead all players in the conference. The Louisville, Kentucky, native started all 31 regular season games at the center position. His 71 blocks in just two seasons already rank eighth on the school's all-time list.

Moses' selection marks the second year in a row Ball State has had an all-defensive team member. House was on the team last season.

Ball State finished the regular season at 20-11 (11-7 MAC), reaching the 20-win mark and sharing the MAC West Division championship for the second year in a row.

The Cardinals are the No. 4 seed in the MAC Tournament and will play Thursday in Cleveland against the winner of Monday night's first-round game between Western Michigan and Miami. Thursday's game will tip at approximately 2:30 p.m. from Quicken Loans Arena.
