Purdue Knocks Off Baseball Cardinals, 16-4

Outfielder Skyler Hunter went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs to pace Purdue (11-8). Mike Madej added two singles and three RBIs. The 16 runs scored were a season high for the Boilermakers.
Each team scored three runs in the first inning, but Purdue pulled away with three more runs in the third followed by a five-run fourth inning. Hunter's bases clearing double to the left field wall in the third inning gave the visitors the lead for good.
Purdue pitcher Jack Dellinger tossed the first five innings to earn the win.
Seniors Matt Eppers and Sean Kennedy each notched a pair of hits for Ball State (11-10). Eppers led off the first and fifth innings with triples to right field. The native of Bristol, Indiana, already has four triples this season and now has 16 career triples, which ranks second in the Ball State record book.
The two teams will meet one more time this season at Purdue on Tuesday, April 18.
Ball State now turns its attention to league play as preseason Mid-American Conference favorite Kent State will visit Muncie this weekend for a three-game series. Game one is set for Friday, March 24 at 3 p.m.
