Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team won its third straight match after posting a 5-2 victory over Youngstown State Saturday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
The Cardinals continue to dominate in doubles action as they have all spring after taking the early 1-0 edge over the Penguins. First off the court for Ball State, was the twosome of Isabelle Dohanics and Toni Ormond after posting a 6-3 defeat on court three over Youngstown State's Monique Belovukovic and Dominika Lackova. The point came down to court two where Audrey Berger alongside teammate Julia Sbircea clinched the point after taking a 6-3 decision from the Penguins Sofia Macia and Imaan Hassim.
In single play, Ball State took four of the six matches from the Penguins. Berger put the Cardinals up 2-0 after posting a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Hassim at the No. 4 position. Ormond followed suit with a straight set take down over Macias on court three. After that, Herrington who helped the Cardinals clinch two victories last weekend managed to claim the victory again for Ball State after earning a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Ana Stroe at the No. 5 spot. With the wins, the true freshman Herrington improves her spring record to 8-2 which is the second best record on the team so far this season and Berger remains undefeated with a 7-0 ledger.
Rosalinda Calderone was the fifth and final point for Ball State she beat her opponent Nehel Sahni, 6-1, 7-5 on court six.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues spring play March 4 at Belmont with an 11 a.m. first serve.
