All-Access: Moses Making Waves in 2016-'17
February 16, 2017 | Men's Basketball
Basketball's Sophomore Rising as Season Hits Stretch Run
Muncie, Ind. -- As a freshman in 2015-16, Trey Moses was a solid piece of the Ball State basketball puzzle.  He averaged 5.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 blocks per game.  A solid freshman campaign.  But as a sophomore, the Ball State faithful have witnessed a transformation of Moses into the makings of a dominant force.
This season Moses ranks third in the MAC in field goal percentage, fourth in rebounding and fifth in blocked shots. Â He's the youngest big in the conference ranked so highly in blocks and, in an interesting turn, ranks two spots above teammate Tahjai Teague. Â Moses has also blown up for six double-doubles this season (one in each of his last two games) after posting double-figure rebounds just once as a rookie.
It's been an explosion that fans and opponents could have seen coming, however. Â Moses finished his first season on a high note, setting nine career highs in the postseason CollegeInsider.com Tournament. Â He picked up his first double-double in the opening round overtime win vs. Tennessee State with 13 points and 13 boards. Â That all carried into a great offseason where he came out of his shell, hit the weight room and got into the best shape of his life. Â
Ball State All-Access sat down with Moses to talk about his breakout season so far and what the MAC can expect in the future.
The Cardinals are next in action at 4:30pm against Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. Â Coverage begins on 104.1 WLBC at 4:10pm with the Mutual Bank Countdown to Tip-off. Â The team returns home Tuesday night vs Eastern Michigan at 7pm. Â Tickets are available at the Stoops Buick GMC Ticket Center, online or by calling 888-BSU-Ticket.
