Ten Cardinals Named to Field Hockey Academic All-MAC Team

MUNCIE, Ind.– The Mid-American Conference announced its 2017 Academic All-MAC team Wednesday afternoon. There were 58 total athletes named to this year's team, 10 of which were Ball State Cardinals. Ball State tied with Ohio for the most representatives named to this year's Academic All-MAC squad.
The Academic All-MAC honors students who excel on the field and in the classroom. In order for a student-athlete to be eligible for the Academic All-MAC team, they must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and compete in at least 50 percent of the games during the season.
Seniors Abbey Main, Carley Shannon and Merinda Morley received the honor for the third straight year. Junior Anya Eicher and red-shirt sophomore Michelle Shampton were named for the second straight year. Beth Barnes, Hannah Bohn, Sierra Jefferson, Haley Jolly and Rachel Pereira were all first time honorees.
The Ball State field hockey team finished the 2017 regular season with a 5-12 record, 1-5 in the MAC.
