Field Hockey Falls Prey to No. 10 Northwestern

MUNCIE, Ind.– The Ball State field hockey team rounded out the weekend with a tough contest against No. 10 Northwestern. The Cardinals were unable to take down the Big Ten powerhouse and fell to the Wildcats, 6-0.
The Wildcats came out strong and scored their first goal in the second minute of the contest. Northwestern was able to knock in four more goals before the half, all off penalty corners. In a scrappy and physical second half, the Cardinals were able to hold the Wildcats to only one goal, scored by Northwestern's Charlotte Vaziri. The teams were even in penalty corners in half number two with four each.
The Cardinals totaled three shots on goal and five penalty corners on the day. In the cage, Grace Chavez and Alison McMullen both saw action. Chavez recorded three saves and McMullen had two.
Ball State will look to bounce back when they travel to Ohio on Oct. 12. The Cardinals will look to pick up their first win in conference action against the Bobcats. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
