MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team will continue Mid-American Conference action this week against Ohio and Longwood. The Cardinals will travel to Ohio on Thursday, Oct. 12 for a rematch against the Bobcats. Ball State will make a quick turn around and travel to Virginia to take on Longwood Sunday, Oct. 15.
The Cardinals and Bobcats met earlier this season at BSU Turf Field where Ball State won, 4-1. In the non-conference action, Carley Shannon, Sierra Jefferson, Michelle Shampton and Anya Eicher all connected with the back of the cage. The Cardinals totaled nine total shots, seven of which were shots on goal, in the contest. Grace Chavez tallied three saves on the day.
The last time Ball State and Longwood met was Oct. 9, 2016. The Cardinals took down the Lancers, 2-1, at BSU Turf Field. In that match, Merinda Morley and Abbey Main were the two Cardinals to score. Going into Sunday's contest, the Lancers sit at 10-3 overall and 3-1 in MAC action.
The Cardinals (4-8, 0-1 MAC) will look to take down the Bobcats and Lancers to move to 2-1 in conference play.
