Field Hockey Falls To Kent State in Conference Play

MUNCIE, Ind.– The Ball State field hockey team took on Kent State in its first Mid-American Conference action Friday afternoon. The Cardinals fell to the Golden Flashes, 2-1.
In the fast-paced first half action, both teams went into the locker rooms tied at 0. After the 10 minute break, the Golden Flashes put points on the board first. Kent State's Laila Richter connected in the 40th minute of the contest. Kent State struck again in the 57th minute thanks to Ines Delpech.
Ball State's Abby Ferenczy was the lone Cardinal to score. Ferenczy scored in the 59th minute, marking her second career goal.
The Cardinals totaled three shots and one shot on goal. Grace Chavez tallied a career high eight goals in the contest. The Golden Flashes racked up 13 shots, 10 shots on goal and two assists.
The Ball State field hockey team will be in action again on Sunday, Oct. 8, right back at the Briner Sports Complex. The Cardinals will look to take down No. 10 Northwestern.
