Cardinals Unable to Pick Up Conference Win Against Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va.– The Ball State field hockey team traveled to Virginia Sunday afternoon to take on the Lancers of Longwood. The Cardinals were unable to break their losing streak and fell to Longwood, 3-0.
Nineteen Cardinals saw action in today's contest, including six true freshmen. However, the Cardinals were only able to get off one shot on the day. Ball State's Anya Eicher also added a defensive save to the stat sheet.
The Lancers controlled the game from the start. They were able to tally fourteen total shots, seven shots on goal and four assists. Longwood also had the edge on penalty corners with six compared to Ball State's one.
In the cage, freshman Grace Chavez recorded three saves in her 70 minutes of play.
The Cardinals (4-10, 0-3 MAC) will return home on Saturday, Oct. 21 for senior night against Appalachian State. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
