Men’s Swim and Dive Kicks off Season with Red/Black/White Meet

MUNCIE, Ind.– The Ball State men's swimming and diving team competed in their annual intrasquad meet Saturday afternoon. The Black team won the day with 79 points. The Red Team came in second place with 74 points followed by the White Team with 39 points.
The Black Team had five first place finishes. Drew Weeks marked a first place finish in his first collegiate action with a time of 1:50.14 in the 200 freestyle. Cullen Tyler had two of the Black Team's first place finishes including 100 butterfly (53.63) and in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.55). Black Team captain placed first in the 100 freestyle after touching the wall at 51.14. Logan Ackley also marked a first place finish for the Black Team with a time of 54.77 in the 100 backstroke.
The Red Team took first place in both relays on the day. Team captain Issac Walling along with Ben Andrew, Luke Nondorf, and Zach Reichle recorded a time of 1:39.88 for first place in the 200 medley relay. In the 200 freestyle relay first place finish, Reichle, Andrew, Nondorf and Ryan Jackowiak marked a time of 1:29.50. Other notable finishes for the Red Team include Isaac Walling's first place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:57.91) and second place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:50.14), first place finish by Ben Andrew in the 50 freestyle (22.09), and Sean Wolfe's first place finishes in both the 1m dive (112.65) and in the 3m dive (96.30).
The White Team, lead by team captain Zach Toman, noted a first place finish in the 200 IM from transfer Spencer Ball. Ball also finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.63. Ball, Toman, Adam Pongracz and Jack Luddy marked a time of 1:40.53 in the 200 medley relay. Luddy also posted third place finish in the 500 freestyle with a final time of 5:04.86. On the board, Gabe Dean marked a score of 95.25 in the 3m dive and a score of 95.03 in the 1m dive.
The Cardinals will compete in another intrasquad meet on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at Lewellen Aquatics Center. The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will kick off regular season on Saturday, Nov. 11 at home against Tiffin.
