Cardinal Notes:
• For the second-straight season the Ball State women's basketball team has opened Mid-American Conference action with a win over Toledo Saturday. The Cardinals defeated the Rockets by a score of 51-45 in Savage Arena. With the win, Ball State has now won six-straight over Toledo.
• Ball State enters tonight's contest with an 8-5 overall mark and a 1-0 league ledger. The Cardinals are on a two-game win streak. Kent State comes to Ball State with an overall record of 6-7 and a 0-1 mark in MAC action. The Golden Flashes opened league play at home against MAC West Division rival Central Michigan Saturday and lost to the Chippewas, 91-78.
• Wednesday's game against Kent State will mark the 57th time in program history the two schools' have met with the Golden Flashes leading the all-time series, 37-19. Ball State has won four of its last six meetings against Kent State. The last time the Cardinals fell to the Golden Flashes was last season after suffering a 59-50 setback on Feb. 13 in the M.A.C Center. Ball State has not lost at home to Kent State since the 1996-97 season which was by a score of 78-66 on Feb. 19 under former head coach Robyn Markey.
• Fifth year head coach Brady Sallee has guided the Cardinals to a 22-10 (.687) Mid-American Conference mark in the month of January over the course of his last four years; 2012-13 (6-1), 2013-14 (4-4), 2014-15 (6-3) and 2015-16 (6-2).
• With the win over Toledo Saturday, fifth-year head coach Brady Sallee improved to 4-1 in league openers with wins over Miami, Bowling Green and twice to Toledo. Sallee has lost once and that was in 2013-14 on the road at Akron.
