MUNCIE, Ind. – After opening the season with 11 consecutive matches on the road, the Ball State field hockey team will finally host its home opener on Monday, Oct. 3 against Ohio State. Game time at the Briner Sports Complex is set for 3 p.m.
Last year Ball State lost to the Buckeyes 3-2 in a tight game in Columbus, Ohio. Lexi Kavanaugh led the Cardinals in that matchup, scoring both goals in the contest. Goalkeeper Jordan Dues had six saves on the day.
Ball State has lost its last eight meetings against Ohio State, but each of the previous three games have been decide by one goal, including the 2014 contest which went to overtime before the Buckeyes earned the 3-2 win. The players are excited and ready for the challenge and believe that they are playing at a higher level as a team this year than past years.
Before the Cardinals take on the Buckeyes, they head up to East Lansing, Michigan, to take on Michigan State on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.
