Field Hockey Falls in Overtime at Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio– The Ball State field hockey team fell to Ohio 3-2 in its third overtime game of the season. With Sunday's loss, the Cardinals fall to 4-6 on the season.
Two Cardinal seniors scored on the day. Midfielder Bryce Barnes scored in the 25th minute of the contest on an unassisted breakaway. In the 69th minute, forward Lexi Kavanaugh scored her third goal of the season on a penalty corner assisted by senior Mikayla Mooney and junior Carley Shannon.
The Bobcats had 14 shots on the day and were the first to score with a goal from Brittany Keen in the fifth minute of the game. Ohio's Gabby Lorenzo scored the team's second goal on the day in the 56th minute of the game after a missed penalty corner attempt. In the 12th minute of the overtime period, Ohio's Amelia Milton got a shot past Ball State goalkeeper Jordan Dues to score the game winning goal from the top of the box.
Ball State field hockey is in action again on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Michigan State beginning at 1 p.m. The Cardinals will then play their home opener on Monday, Oct.3, against Ohio State at 3 p.m.
