Women's Tennis Completes Day Two At MTC

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Ball State women's tennis team continued their fall play Saturday at the second day of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic at Town Club in Fox Point, Wisconsin.
The Cardinals started day two of the tournament with a doubles match against Wisconsin. Ball State took two of the three matches from the Badgers. Julia Sbircea alongside doubles partner Rosalinda Calderon fell 6-2 against Wisconsin's Melissa Pick and Kendall Kirsch. Peyton Gollhofer paired with teammate Audrey Berger for a 6-3 victory over Wisconsin's doubles tandem of Christina Zordani and Kelsey Grambeau. The Ball State duo of Carmen Blanco and Toni Ormond, continued the Cardinals winning ways after posting a 6-3 defeat over Sydney Rider and Michelle Linden.Â
Ball State closed the day with singles play against tournament host, Marquette. The Cardinals earned four total victories over the Golden Eagles. Gollhofer, Sbircea and Isabelle Dohanics all fell in their first sets but came back with power and energy to win the next two sets to take their matches from their respective opponents. Â Berger fell to opponent Fleur Eggink in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Ormond took down opponent, Paula Tormos by a score of 6-4, 6-2.
The Ball State women's tennis team closes out the tournament on Sunday with doubles play versus Marquette at 10 a.m. (EST) followed by singles play against Boise State at 12 p.m. (EST).
