Makris Paces Men’s Golf on Day 1 at Wolf Run

Rain-shortened tournament will be completed Sunday
LEADERBOARD
ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- Michael Makris led the Ball State men's golf team Saturday with a 1-over par round of 72 on day one of the Wolf Run Invitational.
Heavy morning rains pushed the start back to 1 p.m. at Wolf Run Golf Club, and the event was cut from 54 holes to 36. The final round will be played Sunday morning.
Purdue leads the way by 11 strokes on the team leaderboard after a score of 277 (-7). Illinois and Kentucky posted rounds of 288 (+4) and are tied for second in the 14-team field.
Ball State managed a score of 304 (+20) and finds itself in 11th place. In addition to the 72 from Makris, the Cardinals also counted a 75 from Johnny Watts, a 77 from Keegan McKinney and an 80 (shot by both Michael VanDeventer and Blake Vise).
Makris is tied for 13th place, four shots back of Purdue's Brian Carlson (-3) who owns the individual lead. Watts is the second Ball State player on the leaderboard in a tie for 34th.
