Mallers Helps Indiana All-Stars Continue Win Streak
June 14, 2016 | Men's Basketball
Kyle Mallers will enroll in classes later this month and join the Ball State men's basketball program for the rest of its summer workouts.
But he had two things to take care of first: help Indiana continue its dominance over Kentucky in the annual All-Star Series and graduate from Carroll High School in Fort Wayne. He did both of those this weekend.
Mallers scored six points and grabbed six rebounds Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, helping the Indiana team to a 106-84 win. He missed the next night's game game in Louisville to attend his graduation, but Indiana managed another victory to push its winning streak to 16 straight in the series.
The 6-foot-7 Mallers put his long range shooting on display earlier in the week in a pair of exhibitions against the Indiana Junior All-Stars. He averaged 9.5 points over the two games, hitting 6 of 9 shots from the floor, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range.
With Mallers' arrival this year, Ball State will have five former Indiana All-Stars on its roster, marking the most in program history. Tayler Persons (2014), Sean Sellers (2014), Jeremie Tyler (2014) and Tahjai Teague (2015) each played in the all-star series, as well.
