
Men's Tennis Suffers 5-2 Loss To Binghamton

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to Binghamton in Mid-American Confernece action Friday evening at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in league action while the Bearcats improve to 8-7 on the year and 1-2 in MAC play.
Binghamton started up 1-0 after winning the doubles point. The Cardinals fell 6-2 on court three as Sid Hazarika and Valentin Bouchet defeated Tom Carney and Matt Helm. Ball State evened doubles competition 1-1 after the No. 1 doubles tandem of Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz defeated Ludovico Cestarollo and Eliott Hureau, 6-4. After that, the Bearcats clinched the point to take the 1-0 edge over the Cardinals, after Binghamton's Fren Kote and Thomas Caputo claimed a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles over Conner Andersen and Patrick Downs.
In singles action, Downs evened the the score 1-1 for Ball State with his straight set victory over Inigo Saez on court six. The Bearcats took wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions to increase their lead to 3-1. Lucas Andersen made it a 3-2 match after taking down Hazarika, 7-6 (6), 6-2 on the top court. The match would come down to courts two and five, Stutz won his first set but would lose sets two and three, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles for Binghamton's fourth point to win the match.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at Northern Illinois.
