Men's Swim & Dive Holds Annual Awards Banquet

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State men's swimming and diving team held its annual team awards banquet Sunday evening at the Knights of Columbus. Individual awards and scholarships were given to team members for their contributions over the course of the 2015-16 season.
After serving as co-captain for the 2015-16 campaign with senior Cole Smith, junior Tanner Barton was named as co-captain for the upcoming 2016-17 school year with junior Jacob Eckert as well.
Barton also earned the Mental Attitude award, Doug Coers Memorial Scholarship, and the Academic Award for his 4.0 average, while Eckert was named as Most Improved.
Other standouts included junior JD Middleton, who earned the Dave and Sandy Spade Scholarship and Zach Reichle, who was named Outstanding Freshman, while Smith was awarded Most Valuable for the 2015-16 season.
There were also High Point Awards given to Smith (Swimming, Sprint Freestyle), freshman Lane Sawyer (Diving), sophomore Isaac Walling (Distance Freestyle), Reichle (Breaststroke), sophomore Nate Slack (Backstroke), Barton (Butterfly) and Eckert (IM).
