Cardinal Notes:
- The Ball State women's basketball team is having their best start in a decade after the Cardinals defeated Evansville, 84-49, last Wednesday night in Worthen Arena. The last time Ball State began their season with a 2-0 start was in 2006-07 under the direction of former head coach Tracy Roller, that year Ball State ended its season 24-7.
- Five Ball State players reached double figures against the Purple Aces, with senior guard Jill Morrison leading the way with 19 points. Senior center Renee Bennett was the second leading scorer behind Morrison with 16 points and 10 rebounds. This is the second-straight game Bennett has recorded a double-double and the third of her career. Junior forward Moriah Monaco and newcomer Destiny Washington finished the contest with 14 points apiece, while senior guard Calyn Hosea ended the game with 11 points.
- This is Ball State's second-straight Thanksgiving tournament on the road. The Cardinals played at the Omni Hotel Classic in Boulder, Colo. last year and went 1-1 in that tournament, losing to Florida (85-79) and defeating UMass (81-54).
- Ball State will face Auburn for the first time since 2013 and only the third time in program history when it plays against the Tigers Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Civic Center located in Savannah, Ga. The Cardinals then face North Carolina A&T for the first time in program history Wednesday with a 2 p.m. tipoff and then will close the tournament Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against East Carolina. The Cardinals have faced the Pirates once which resulted in an 81-78 victory for Ball State in 2003-04.
