Lexi Kavanaugh Leads Field Hockey in Sunday’s Game

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team lost to La Salle, 3-1, Sunday afternoon despite dominating in almost every statistical category.
Ball State's Lexi Kavanaugh put the first point on the board sneaking the ball past La Salle's goalkeeper Rachel Hartman in the sixth minute of the game. Kavanaugh's shot was assisted by junior Abbey Main. Kavanaugh ended the day with five shots, two of which were on goal.
From there, the Explorers scored three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead at halftime. Logan Oh scored first for La Salle in the eighth minute of the game. Mackenzie Karcher scored the next two goals, her first two scores of the 2016 season.
Both teams remained scoreless in the second half.
The Cardinals had 18 total shots, nine of which were shots on goal. Ball State also led La Salle in penalty corners, 4-3.
La Salle improves to 7-7 with the win while Ball State falls to 6-9.
The Ball State field hockey team will return to action on Friday, Oct. 21 as the Cardinals travel to Missouri State. Ball State's home finale is slated for Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Briner Sports Complex.
