A Look at the Cardinals                                Â
• Ball State plays the second of back-to-back Mid-American Conference road games Tuesday when it visits Buffalo. The Cardinals have won two consecutive road games, Jan. 12 at Western Michigan and Saturday at Eastern Michigan.
• The Cardinals are coming off an 88-87, double-overtime victory at Eastern Michigan. Francis Kiapway hit a 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds remaining in the second overtime to give BSU the win. Kiapway made a career-high seven 3-pointers on his way to a career-best 22 points.
• Ball State has been the MAC's top 3-point shooting team during conference play at 41.3 percent. The Cardinals have made 62 treys (10.3 per game). Only Akron (67) has made more 3's among league teams.
• Ball State ranks second in the MAC and 39th nationally in scoring defense, allowing 64.8 points per game. The Cardinals' 70.2 points per game allowed in conference play are also the second-fewest in the league.
• Ball State sits at No. 158 out of 351 Division I teams in the Ken Pomeroy rankings. The Cardinals have been as high as No. 144 this season, marking their highest rating since January 2012. BSU hasn't finished a season better than its current ranking since 2005 (No. 105).
• The Cardinals rank as the top assist team in the MAC with 16.0 per game during conference play. BSU has assisted on 64.7 percent (97 of 150) of its made field goals in league action. Junior forward Franko House has recorded 20 of his 34 assists during conference play.
Kiapway's Big Day          Â
• Sophomore guard Francis Kiapway scored a career-high 22 points in Saturday's victory at Eastern Michigan and made the game-winning 3 in the final second of the second overtime.
• Kiapway finished one shy of Dennis Trammell's school record with seven 3-pointers in the game. He set the school record for 3-point attempts with 16.
• He also started at point guard for the first time, shifting over from his normal shooting guard position, and played a career-high 46 minutes.
Tyler Picking it Up          Â
• Sophomore guard Jeremie Tyler, coming off a season-high 17-point performance at Eastern Michigan, has picked up his offensive production during conference play.
• Tyler's 18.8 points-per-game average in league play is more than four points higher than his non-conference average (6.4). He has also improved his overall shooting percentage and 3-point percentage to better than 40 percent.
• Last season, Tyler averaged 12.0 points per game through nine games before missing the second semester.
