Baseball Suffers 6-0 Loss at Purdue; Hosts UT Friday

Ball State's baseball team suffered a 6-0 loss at Purdue Wednesday, which evened the season series at 1-1 due to the Cardinals' 8-2 win earlier this year over the Boilermakers.
With the loss, Ball State falls to 24-15 overall. The Cardinals will return to Mid-American Conference action Friday through Sunday with a three-game home series vs. Toledo at Ball Diamond in the First Merchants Ballpark Complex. Ball State is 9-6 in the MAC and in second place in the league's West Division, while Toledo is 8-7 in conference play.
At Purdue, the Boilermakers scored three runs in the bottom of the first and added one in the fourth, sixth and eighth, while limiting Ball State to six hits in the contest.
Scott Baker started the game for the Cardinals and eight pitchers saw action for Ball State. Baker suffered the loss.
Alex Call led the Cardinals offensively with a 2-for-4 performance, while Elbert Devarie, Matt Eppers, Alex Maloney and Jarrett James added one hit apiece.
Ball State stranded nine runners on base in the game, while allowing Purdue six runs on nine hits. Shane Bryant pitched eight innings to earn the victory and improve to 2-3 on the season.
