Kamieniecki Named to Academic All-MAC Squad
April 22, 2015 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Matt Kamieniecki, who just completed his career with the Ball State men's basketball team, has been named to the 2014-15 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team.
The fifth-year senior from Clarkston, Mich., owns a 3.476 GPA in Ball State's Master of Business Administration program. He already has his bachelor's degree in business.
On the floor this season, Kamieniecki averaged career highs with 8.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game despite being slowed by a back injury in the second half of the season. He recorded five double-doubles and exploded for a career-high 21 points in his final home game March 6 against Northern Illinois.
Kamieniecki was one of 18 players from across the league to meet the selection criteria -- a 3.20 cumulative GPA and participation in at least 50 percent of his team's games. Freshmen and junior college transfers in their first year are not eligible.
He also appeared on the Academic All-MAC list in 2011-12 and earned honorable mention recognition on the team in 2012-13. He returned to the floor this season after redshirting a year ago because of injury.
Academic All-MAC Team members are also candidates for the new MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete Award list, which will be announced at a later date.
