March 23, 2015 | Baseball
Zach Plesac, a sophomore pitcher on the Ball State baseball team, has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the Cardinals victory at Bowling Green Friday.
Plesac pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout and struck out eight batters in Ball State's 7-0 Friday afternoon victory at Bowling Green. He evened his record at 1-1 on the season, while limiting the Falcons to a .103 batting average in the game and allowed only one extra base hit in the contest.
In addition, Plesac posted two at-bats in two games last week and was 1-for-2 with one run-batted-in.
The Cardinals were 4-0 last week, including a sweep in their opening Mid-American Conference weekend at Bowling Green.
Ball State will host Purdue Wednesday in a 3 p.m. non-conference game before returning to MAC action with a Friday through Sunday home series vs. Buffalo.
