December 30, 2015 | Baseball
MUNCIE, Ind. – Zach Plesac was recently chosen as a Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball. The junior right-handed pitcher from Crown Point, Indiana was a third team selection.
Plesac led the Cardinals in most of the pitching statistics last year including wins (five), games started (16), innings pitches (107.1), strikeouts (77) and ERA (3.27) on the way to earning All-MAC second team honors. He threw five complete games as a sophomore, including a stretch of four straight starts where he went the distance, marking the most by a Ball State pitcher since Bryan Lynch threw seven straight complete games in 2003. Plesac's five complete games led the MAC and ranked 10th nationally.
In 2014, Plesac was named MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year and came away with All-MAC first team accolades after going 12-2 with a 2.11 ERA.
Plesac was the only student-athlete from the MAC to be selected to this prestigious list.
Ball State's 2016 season opener is slated for Feb. 19 in Arizona against Oregon State.
