All-Access: Men's Basketball Leads with Defense
December 10, 2015 | Men's Basketball
The best offense is a good defense. It's wouldn't be a cliche if it wasn't true, and this year's Ball State men's basketball team is learning that first hand.
Through nine games, the Cardinals rank 29th (of more than 300 teams) nationally in scoring defense. It's a jump of more than 200 spots from a year ago. Moreover, Ball State ranks 58th in effective field goal percentage, 35th in two-point field goal percentage and 38th in block percentage. The Cardinal and White rank, so far, sit as the top defense in the MAC.
So what's led to Ball State's rousing success on that side of the ball? Well, a lot of things. Ball State All-Access catches up with James Whitford, Francis Kiapway and Ryan Weber to detail the team's defensive transformation.
The Cardinals are next in action Saturday at 1pm, hosting Pepperdine. Coverage can be found on ESPN3 or 104.1 WLBC, the flagship station for Ball State Sports. For more information, follow the team on twitter @BallState MBB or @BallStateSports.
