Kavanaugh Named To All-Conference Second Team
November 05, 2015 | Field Hockey
The Mid-American Conference revealed its postseason award-winners for the 2015 field hockey season Thursday afternoon. The honors included All-MAC First and Second Teams, along with Freshman and Coach of the Year, topped off by the announcement of Player of the Year.
Ball State's junior forward Lexi Kavanaugh was the lone Cardinal to be named to the All-MAC Second Team, after registering a seven goal season. The Sherrill, N.Y. native also completed the season by tallying four assists and 14 shots on goal.
Kavanaugh has been aggressive in the Cardinals offensive strike, as she has been the team's leading scorer the past three seasons and holds 20 career goals. No stranger to Mid-American Conference honors, Kavanaugh earned MAC Freshman of the Year in 2013 and has earned Player of the Week awards twice.
Miami's senior Bea Dechant was named the 2015 MAC Player of the Year, while the RedHawk's Paula Portugal was titled 2015 MAC Freshman of the Year. Kent State's Kathleen Wiler and Miami's Inako Puzo earned the titles of co-Coaches of the Year.
